A christmas warning...
I heard this story today. A lady went shopping in John Lewis. She visited the ladies room and hung her handbag on the back of the toilet door. As she carried on about her business, a hand suddenly appeared over the top of the stall and grabbed her bag clean off the hook!!!
As if this wasn’t bad enough, she reported the incident to the manager of the store and the police. A couple of days later she took a call to say her bag had been found, without her purse. She arranged a time to go and meet the manager to collect her things.
On arriving at John Lewis at the agreed time, the manager was not expecting her – nothing had been found, no one had called.
When the lady got home, her house had been burgled, with no sign of forced entry, they had used her Driving License for the address and her keys to let themselves in!!!!!!
Please be extra vigilant ladies, Christmas is a bad time for this sort of thing anyway, but with the credit crunch there are a lot of desperate criminals out there!!
Hopefully it is a hoax, but you can never be sure.WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

I have to admit we had a very, very similar story in the newsroom a couple of years back (but this time it was Debenhams) - I do think it's a hoax.....however, it doesn't mean that people don't get their bags snatched and yes, people should be careful.

That's absolutely awful! Hoax or not, it still highlights how careful you have to be!
By the way, why do driving licenses have the full address on? I've always thought that's a bad idea- especially when they are so often kept in bags with house keys.Snowflakes and Sparkles

The story itself sounds very similar to a lot of urban myth e-mails, but of course, it is a good idea to keep a close eye on your bag, particularly if it happens to be the official Ministry of Burlesque tote bag! Available from here and 100% guaranteed to be unsnatchable from the John Lewis toilets.

Hmmm, you are right, Tempest. I shall hastily amend the terms and conditions to exempt me from being sued by any of the C family or their associates!
