Aw I am sending virtual cake to you!
Your situation sounds sucky. I work in the NHS in a Health Care professional capacity so if there is anything I may be able to help with at all lemme know.

My Diploma course is going down the tubes. Part of my course involves gettinga placement for 120 hours of face to face counselling made up of a maximum 4 client hours a week. My issue has been that I have no connections with the NHS, unlike my fellow students, so finding places has been a nightmare - it's a bit like the burlesque scene - not what you know but who you know.

I've just spent the majority of today once again ringing around countless medical centres and mental health organisations to get the same old run around - I've already done the charities which all offered me a training course at X hundreds of pounds without a guarrantee of a placement at the end of it, in the counselling circles this is known as a scam to generate income.

So meh - I'm fed up and could do with some cheering up.

    Please bring cake.
Here is a very very large cake - it's a magic cake so that everyone who takes a bite of it tastes exactly what they want to taste. If given to health care professionals it also suddenly makes them compliant and feeling strangely obliged to offer you a placement.

Ever thought of starting up the Gehenna Counselling Centre for Misguided, Depressed and Manic Lovers and Performers of Burlesque? There are enough of us nut jobs here you could counsel! In fact you could see me 4 hours a week for the rest of your life and we'd still get to the bottom of all the things that screwed me up in my childhood and battles about my sexuality in teen years......actually I think that's already been invented, the religious folk call it purgatory.

I seriously feel for you mate, when I worked in a volunteer bureau we had no end of counselling student coming in each year desperate to find somewhere for a placement and charities being snotty with them saying they had to do their own course and pay for it. It's so stupid as the waiting lists for counselling, of all forms are so huge that it would make sense to invest some time in getting more good people trained to help with the load.

I'm sure you have, but have you tried Axis?- 01743 357777 or 01952 278000 Axis sexual abuse counselling for survivors of childhood abuse in Shropshire
