Default Gehenna Feeling Down - Cheer Him Up Thread

Life is like a :censored: sandwich - sod all bread and loads of :censored:.

My Diploma course is going down the tubes. Part of my course involves gettinga placement for 120 hours of face to face counselling made up of a maximum 4 client hours a week. My issue has been that I have no connections with the NHS, unlike my fellow students, so finding places has been a nightmare - it's a bit like the burlesque scene - not what you know but who you know.

I've just spent the majority of today once again ringing around countless medical centres and mental health organisations to get the same old run around - I've already done the charities which all offered me a training course at X hundreds of pounds without a guarrantee of a placement at the end of it, in the counselling circles this is known as a scam to generate income.

So meh - I'm fed up and could do with some cheering up.

    Please bring cake.

Would you like some imaginary cake?
Hugs for this one, but just think, once you are in you are in. Its just finding a hole to claw through thats the tricky bit.

Oh dear! I am sorry! Having just started out on a counselling course I am now concerned about events to come my way further down the line but, I will cross that bridge then. For now, to use another cliche, good things comes to he who waits, so let's hope that is true and your placement will be fabulous.

Being in a similar situation myself I know how frustrating this can be!

I don't have any advice as I know nothing about the NHS but just persevere. It sucks now but no doubt it will be fine in the end. Do you know any of those other students that do have contacts who could pull a few strings?

    Hey honey

Don't be down, it'll be alright. I don't know what or how I can help, but I work for the NHS, all be it in as a admin manager, but if there is any help you need, point me in the right direction and I shall scour the intranet etc

I have NHS contacts but I'm afraid they'll be in completely the wrong area (geographically) for you as I only have them in Liverpool. Could you get contacts from any of the other students like December suggested? Or try and find a counsellor in your area online and see if they can help you?
