I used to be quite a green tea fanatic I must admit. It is incredibly good for you and it imporved my skin amazingly well.
As for taste, if you add a slice of lemon it spruces things up a bit and I never suffered from the runs drinking it and I drunk ALOT!
It doesn't contain caffine, just loads of antioxidants and goodness.
Hope this helps you

Hi Bettie,
There are lots of different types of green tea out there, just as there are lots of different types of black tea.
Like Anastasia I've never heard of anyone getting the runs from it, but there are some types that do have caffeine - albeit in much smaller doses than coffee or black tea.
Have a look at the varieties in health food shops or larger supermarkets, there are loads with added lemon and other fruit-types which will make them taste more like herbal tea. Or you could just add lemon like Anastasia suggested.
Japanese-made or Japanese bands of green tea can have a very distinct taste so probably best to steer clear if you're not used to them.

A cup of green tea has roughly the same caffiene levels in it as black tea (black tea has 33mg per 100ml green tea 32mg per 100ml) and also has other caffiene like chemicals in it. The good bit about green tea is that it's packed full of anti-oxidents and are (to a degree) lost when you make black tea out of the green leaves. However to get full benefit you must remember not to make the tea with boiling water or you will be breaking down the good stuff! Brewing of green tea should be around 85 degrees. Taste-wise I find green tea much lighter than black tea with a pleasent (to me anyway!) bitter-sweet after-taste but like so many thing's it's personal choice. If you are after a caffiene free drink though you may be better off with rooibos?

i really like green tea although it did take me a while to get used to it. i've tried quite a few brands and i like clipper the best, it isn't as bitter as some others. if i drink about 4 cups a day my skin looks so much better. if you don't like green tea you can always try peppermint, chamomile or buy some ginger root and a lemon and put it in hot water its yummy and good for you!

i have green tea in my desj at work but tend to forget about it as i'm not so keen on the taste - i like the cold stuff you get in thailand but not sure if that will have the same benefits.....EDN you seem to be a bit of a tea geek!

It depends on the process used to remove the caffiene rather than where the tea comes from. There are some water and CO2 based systems which don't leave organic nasties.
I'm a biochemist (well I was originally a biochemist) the geekery comes with the territory!
