i did actually briefly work for them when i was 18, i did the barista training under the guise of taking a job on...truthfully it was subsidised by my job at the time who wanted to make starbucks quality coffee and sent me off to learn how! I was an undercover coffee ninja... okay maybe not quite

That's how the pushers always work - the first several are free to get you hooked!

Being a coffee ninja sounds good - though surely they should have researched more and sent you off to somewhere that made nice coffee

My fiance is currently a starbucks Coffee Master and is doing his supervisor training. He says it b******s about the twin towers thing because anyone who comes into a Starbucks branch in uniform is given free drinks.

They can't be seen to be supporting the war because it might be bad for business. Think of all the bad press its got over the years. I agree it's sad to have to shun our boys and girls out there fighting but they have a business code they have to keep to.

Check out the Snopes links I posted earlier. This particular internet rumour started off in the US, where it seems Starbucks do support the troops - or say so in their press releases. It makes for quite interesting reading, I thought

    Dear Readers,

Almost 5 months ago I sent an e-mail to you my faithful friends. I did a wrong thing that needs to be cleared up. I heard by word of mouth about how Starbucks said they didn't support the war and all. I was having enough of that kind of talk and didn't do my research properly like I should have. This is not true. Starbucks supports men and women in uniform. They have personally contacted me and I have been sent many copies of their company's policy on this issue. So I apologize for this quick and wrong letter that I sent out to you.

Now I ask that you all pass this email around to everyone you passed the last one to. Thank you very much for understanding about this.
