in a previous job I had quite alot to do with the "FRANK" campaign rhymes with ? alot of the young people I worked with who rang the helpline thought it was crap! the amount of money that goes into those campaigns is huge and i mean huge the amount of printed material that gets sent out to various organisations is a rain forest GRRR just having a little rant they could spend the money in better ways.

The banknote one is funny

Don't think the ad would put me off using coke though if were a young 'un...might make me think it had hallucinogenic properties perhaps...

Well I've just decided to watch them all and I have to say I was distinctly unimpressed. All the bizarreness in the world isn't going to overrule the ubiquitous patronising attitude that dominates all anti-drug adverts.
But then I got to the seductive baggie. Sheer genius!

Ah - I meant to say the baggie one rather than the banknote! Didn't find the banknoteone funny at all

Absolutely I totaly agree, but the point I was trying to get across (and not that well ) is that the FRANK campaign costs millions and the effects in terms of actual measureable outcomes is negiable, it's all about advertising/rebranding and the apperance of doing something that was more "right on" (FRANK replaced the national drugs helpline) I think the money could be better spent on local services that actaully engage with people as oppose to someone on the end of a phone reading from an information sheet which is what happens (or it did ) when you talk FRANK.
sorry if thats a bit harsh but some advertising company is raking it.

Oh I see. What you said about local services makes a lot of sense. We used to have a policeman in our area who would visit all the schools 3 times a year or so to discuss things like drugs. He would use a humorous approach, much like Frank uses (albeit more child-friendly), but it was much more personable.
