Calling all burlesque crochet-ers... if there are any!
Hi ladies just wondering if any of you burly folk can crochet. I can knit and i have been working on different projects almost non-stop for the past few months but now i have seen a pillbox hat pattern and the pattern involves a crocheted top to the hat... i just wondered, could anyone recommend a website that shows you the crochet basics/key terms? I go on knittinghelp.com for knitting advice so i guess i am looking for something similar to that if there is one.
Thanks everyone

I have been knitting non stop too this winter, haven't done much crocheing yet, but have seen a fab pattern for a girls cardigan that I might have to try for my littlie!
Having a glace around the net this site looks quite good http://crochet.about.com/library/blbeginners.htm
Have fun with your project xx

How to Crochet, Crocheting Patterns, Projects & Instructions - Craftster
is awesome plus the stitch and bitch 'happy hooker's book is well worth the ten pounds

I learnt how to crochet long before I learnt how to knit, and found it much easier to learn than knitting! If you can knit, you should have no problem learning crochet. There are loads of tutes available online:
Crochet Pattern Central - Free, Online Crochet Instruction and Tutorial Directory
is pretty exhaustive.
I'll second on Craftster and the SnB recommendation! SnB is a very fun and lighthearted introduction to crochet, whilst Craftster is a wonderful inspiration to...well, any kind of crafting.
Also... could I enquire as to where you found the pillbox hat pattern?

I mostly patchwork, and cross-stitch when I'm sat on a train.
I never learned how to crochet, so when the out-laws asked what I wanted for christmas, I asked for a couple of hooks and a starter book. But I never quite understood the starter book. It was clearly written by someone who knows what they're talking about, but I couldn't get it right. I think I need to be shown. Or a better book. I have been recommended the stitch and bitch book, so I'll wait until a payday.
So it's been thrown in a corner, temporarily, while I get one or two other patchwork projects off the ground. But I love the octopus, though!

I love knitting and croceting, mainly hats and legwarmers. I learnt from a book and kit and now find it quicker and easier then knitting. I like making things with lacy thread. There are tutorials on youtube too.
