Thread: Im fed up of bloody job applications!!

ahh thats better...apologies for the rant!

Ive been applying for jobs since last august now and still have nothing permanent. These jobs are things i have more than enough experience ie office admin when i have been a med. secretary, PA and admin manager!

yet for some reason im not getting any interviews - my references are fine, im giving plenty of examples when writing the personal statement etc....

not only that but the questions they ask like

ability to work to own initiative...

how do you give an example of that??? unless your a dumbass you do it naturally!:wallbash::wallbash:

just sooo fed up now...

any one else like this??

yes! i kno exactly how you feel, ive only just got a job now and id been looking since last june! i was just about to give up! theres just not many jobs out there and too many people in need of one, dont give up!

Yep!!

Been at uni for 2 years and its just not rocking my boat! My results are really good (all heading for firsts) so everytime I tell my advisor I'm withdrawing they ignore me and say 'It will be more interesting next year' well it isn't!!

So I've been job hunting too and like you I'm well qualified if not over qualified for the jobs I'm applying for but as yet no bites!!:cry:

The questions that are on the forms are soooo banal, how they can pick from the answers they must get I do not know. Unfortunately for my line of work - pre school education/nursery nursing many of the posts have relief staff filling in and they are kind of promised the job as long as they apply and the whole process is just fake to make it look fair.:thumbsdown:

i wish this was the case...one of the positions i have applied for is my own im temping in...there are six of us temps and 4 posts...but unfortunatley because its the council they really do have to do it fairly!! there have been 300 applications!

so we may still be out of a job!!:cry::cry:

Blooming 'eck luv.....300 applications for 4 jobs!!!!!!!!!! I'm astounded!!!!!!! I'm sure you stand a great chance though as you have actually been doing the job and would need minimal training. Also you are a lovely person - that should count for something!!!!

300 applications though!!!!!!!

mmmm 300 i know! the team leaders were shocked but there are a few call centres in my vicinity that have laid off recently and being a call centre with the council...it becomes very attractive!

We spoke to one of management team today and they have discarded about 100 as they were clearly not suitable..... other than that we get treated exactly as everryone else:cry:

I've done recruitment and selection before and it would be hard to give that many applications a proper look through that would do them justice. You would have to be quite ruthless at first to even bring it down to a managable number from which to get your shortlist. It's a bit of an overwhelming prospect - no wonder the team leaders were shocked!!!!

Arrrgh tell me about it! I've been applying for jobs since before Christmas and haven't had a single interview!!! It's a numbers game though, the more stuff you apply to the better your chances are. Good luck sweetie!! xx

thanks hun - there were 3 team leaders and one admin asst doing it today! they then did overtime tonight and have all day booked out tomorrow to do it!! eek!
