Thread: Really scared about Kidney Scan...

Hi guys and girls,

For about 6 or 7 months I was getting a dull (not painful) ache and throb in my lower left back by my kidney. I didnt go to the doc as I thought it was muscular and it only happened sometimes after alcohol and tons of people said 'yeah i get an ache after drink' so I didnt do much but then I had a medical at work. Anyway this was diagnosed after a urine sample as a nasty kidney infection. This got treated with antibiotics but still 2 weeks on I am having the same aches. I had an xray which ruled out stones but now I am having a ultrasound on my kidneys to look for any nasties.
The doc said usually an infection and cancer would not be together but its not impossible. Now im so stressing xxx

Oh Winnie, I'm so sorry to hear that you're not well! :hug: :hug:

I know its easy for me to say this but please do try not to stress too much. There are many things, all of them treatable, that can cause kidney pain so try not to jump to any C-word conclusions, it could just be that your infection has proved a little more resistant than usual towards antibiotics and has bounced back again since you completed your course, doctors just have to be cautious about these things that's all.

I totally agree with the above, but don't worry about 'whinge' (and I don't think coming on here and saying 'I'm scared' is whingeing)......there is a wealth of knowledge and experiences on the MoB fora, you often think you're the only one, mention it on here and find out there are tons of people who have experienced the same, or their families have......this is a very good place to get fears out of your head,down in writing and get supportive responses.

You're getting medical help and that's the best thing. I know it's terribly hard but the best thing is to try and relax. Bug hugs
