Oh totally agree, if that emollient works then stick with it.
I only mentioned the lush dream cream because I had years of finding nothing that worked until I started using it. And I've heard of quite a few others saying the same. I'm a bit of a zealot about it because I'd resigned myself to a life of itchy misery.
But this is a short term thing so it's different and if what you have is working then great.

would agree about the dream cream from Lush. i love their stuff but tried this on my son who had very very bad excma and it wasn't good. Oatmeal baths are very soothing. i would check out what is in the emiollant? you use and may be switch to evening primrose oil with some borage and wheatgerm oil added (bluerock essentials oils are abby essentails are very reasonable and good quality) we are sure that my husband developed his peanut allergy after useing the products perscribes for our son.
hope it gets better soon

I've had eczema all my life but when I was a kid I was always struggling to spell it. It took me ages to overrule the basic phonetics that I'd learnt at school and work out that there is no X in eczema!

I miss Lush bathbombs! Turns out I don't get on well with the stuff they're made of, which was why I often itched, so not allowed anymore
I have eczema and get viral rashes when I have a cold, so all the sympathy in the world!
When I'm in bad shape, I use the Benadryl in the blue packet that you take every 8 hours as the usual one-a-day (like cetirizine/loratadine) don't work well for me when I'm really itchy.
STAY MOISTURISED! That's the biggest thing to keep on top of as the dryness makes the itch worse and then makes your skin more prone to infection. I use Epaderm, a really thick emollient which you can also wash with- when its bad, applying it 4 times a day! I was a bit surprised when the docs recommended doing it so often, but it really does help. The Oilatum bar 'soap' might be useful, and I've been known to resort to using the E45 kids bath liquid which doesnt foam or dry out the skin. Hope you are getting a lot better already!
