Phobias and Fears, What's yours?
I have Cynophobia (fear of dogs) and was wondering what other fears or phobias other people have, or if they have the same one as me i find that talking about it can help some people because they have people who are in the similar position to talk to.

I have chronic EdwardScissorhandsophobia. It actually affects me more than you'd think (the theme tune, scissors, whisks, automatic can openers, bushes shaped like animals...)
I also have emetophobia which is a huge phobia of people being sick near me. when I'm sick, well obviously I don't like it and I usually cry, but I'm much worse when it's other people. I have panic attacks.
I also really hate using the phone- I get all clammy and shaky if I have to. Oh and I nearly forgot- I have a huge irrational fear of zombie invasion.
I live in constant fear of going to hell.
I'm generally quite a fraidy cat!! :lol:Snowflakes and Sparkles

It's weird for me there have been a few times where i've been almost alright but most of the time im like :O my boyfriend is very supportive though he always stands in front of me so they can't get to me or if one is off a lead he holds it by the collar til the owner comes over to get it he's pretty great
i still find it embarrassing when i panic in front of him though

from an experienced dog owner - the worst thing to do is make noise or flail around - stand still and ignore the dog!
if anyone cries/shouts/runs/waves arms etc around china (my dog) she is even more interested! and i think that goes for 99.9% of dogs!
out of curiosity - what is it that scares you about dogs? i would really love to understand!Don't Be Fooled By The Sweetness and Light......

When i was little id cry as soon as i saw one i even had to stand on a wall once because a floppy eared dog started coming up to me (i was about 7 or 8 at the time)
Im more ok with them now i can get quite close i cried once about 6 months ago but that was because 3 large white labradors basically ran at me and were growling like mad my boyfriend grabbed their collars but one slipped away and ran straight at me i was so embarrassed its untrue the owner didn't even care.
Im not sure exactly what it is, i was bitten when i was little and my mum and uncles were also scared of dogs they've all grown out of it so i always assumed i would too. I just panic and feel sick and get all shaky a woman was walking 3 dogs behind me like a week ago and knew the guy in front and she let go of all of the leads and the dogs ran past me i had to turn around and go another way and was shaking badly.
It's really bad because when i make friends with someone i have to say "oh what pets have you got" and then make up excuses not to go to their house if they have one.

See thats such a shame - i can understand fear coming from being bitten!
have you tried finding someone with a very calm dog that you could sit in a living room with and they wouldnt come near you? just thinking how you could try and lessen the fear.
I suppose because ive always grown up around dogs i cant see the negative side of them which is why i was curious!
The one thing that gets me though is when you see kids that are fine around dogs but a parent pulling the child away through their own fear....it worries me that the child will become scared too....Don't Be Fooled By The Sweetness and Light......
