Exam Stressing
This is just pretty much going to be a rant on my half, so I do apologize in advance!
I am in the middle of uni exams right now and I just feel so utterly useless and stressed out I do not know what to do. I cant remember anything I revise and I spent 8hours in the library yesterday revising a subject and today could do no questions on it. Its like I ma a fish and I can not remember anything.
I just dont kno what to do that will help me remember things and it makes me sad...
Can anyone give me any tips? or at least a little confidence booster...
Does anyone know anything about first year economics and want to tutor me before friday???
I love you all anyway if you cant helpWARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

Hey,
I'm going through exactly the same thing, but with A/S exams and I have to re-do terrible coursework this weekend yay! My tip is to use colour. Green is a memory colour, along with red and orange. So maybe you could make notes/mindmaps/ETC (is little childish, but it does work, I promise) Or instead of spending hours studying, you could maybe divide your time up. Sorry if you know this already, but there's no harm in trying.
I wish you all the best.
Good luck

i have been using many colours, but i am doing economics atm and mindmaps dont help with it, they helped with biology
thank you though, i am glad to know i am not the only one going through this terrible time.
Some might ask why am I on MoB when i should be revising... but this is a study break!

Yeah, as I said I supposed to be re-working a coursework essay at the 'mo
, but there's no harm in having a little break.
Again, good luck x

I can totally sympathise, I'm sitting another two professional exams later this month and I'm feeling EXACTLY the same. Especially what you said about learning stuff and then forgetting it by the next day.
The only thing I can suggest is simply slowing it down and giving your mind a proper break. I think the brain (like any other "muscle" ;-) gets tired, worn out, and then refuses to work properly.
If you're in first year, I think you might also be over-anticipating how bad the exams might be. Once you're through them, you might realise that actually, you know and retain a lot more than you give yourself credit for.
When I sat the first two exams of my current course in November I really went to town on revision. It paid off, and I got good marks, but now I know what to expect from the papers I'm keeping things in a bit more perspective, as the mere thought of going that OTT on study this time is stressful in itself.
What I am suffering from at the moment is a lack of past paper practice and an absolute hatred of one of my classes (mainly because the teacher is rubbish and that's made me build up a panic around it). I'm trying to combat that now with learning my own way - using an alternative text book I got on Ebay - and that went really well today.
Anyway - I'm rambling (maybe just getting it out of my system) - basically, give yourself a break, look after yourself, avoid panic, and you'll be absolutely fine.
(oh - and line up a wee treat for yourself once it's all out of the way - like tickets to a good burley night or gig - having something to remind you that you will actually get your life back again!!)

Revise for 20 minutes at a time, nor more. Then have a break for five or ten minutes. Your concentration starts to drop after twenty minutes, so it's pointless trying to spend a solid hour revising when you'll remember more if you break it up into chunks.
Get fresh air. Go out for walks at least once a day. Shutting yourself away inside in non-conducive.
When you have breaks, don't snack every time just for something to do! Make sure you're still eating healthily, and drink plenty of water. Keep your blood sugar levels up; glucose is brain food, so don't deprive yourself of food either.
Get plenty of sleep. Your brain processes all of the information you've taken in throughout the day when you're asleep, so you're more likely to remember it. Don't stay up all night revising - make sure you get good, deep sleep.
Listen to music as you revise, but make sure it's non-vocal. A voice singing lyrics will distract your brain and you'll end up learning the words rather than what you're studying. Get a good selection of classical music and only listen to the instrumental stuff.
Hope that helps!
