Every so often a thread comes up in which a forum user requests that their account be deleted.

Unfortunately, owing to the backstage (technical) aspects of how this forum operates, the moderating team are unable to completely delete user accounts.

Should you wish that your account become inoperable, we can perform the same action upon your account as happens with a banned user. This renders your account locked with a note reading "banned" under your user name. If you wish, you may like to explain in your profile text that you have requested that your account be banned in order to render it inoperable before we press the big red button.
