Edinburgh newcomers, advice appreciated
Greeting of your choice...
We are a middle aged couple in West Lothian who would love to attend a burlesque event. I see that La Cheetah in Glasgow is taking place in a couple of weeks, as is an event in Dundee next week.
Could someone please offer some advice about what to expect and what the usual protocols are. We're not the loudest of people but we're open minded and enjoy having fun nights.
Any suggestions for bars to visit or other events where the scene crowd might normally congregate would be welcomed.
Thanks in advance

Hi chris, my hubby and I are also in west lothian. Livingston actually
We both try to go to as many events as possible , when babysitters permit!
LA Cheetah is a good night as are the miss fitzpostes modern mixers
In edinburgh. Dolly tartans red door burlesque is always good to in Glasgow
Captain anchor runs a night in edinbburgh too usually on a thursday night which we've been to and enjoyed too.
Not sure about a social scene as in bars or clubs etc as we tend to stick to shows but do expect to have a blast and laugh a lot!
There are lots of lovely people to meet in the glittery worldof the burl!!!!
If you guys fancy meeting up aty any point just give us a shout. Probs best to get.me on facebook as ann martin as the internet on my phone is shocking!
Or on my FB page for agapanthus, or twitter as agapanthusuk.
Enjoy the coming frivolities xxxx

Hi Chris,
I'm not quite sure what age is "middle aged", but husband and I are in our fifties... although I confess I have only just teetered into that decade! Tee hee.
We are also new to Burlesque and your post was very relevant to us.
Thanks to agapanthus we now have a much better idea of where to see a Burlesque show. :-)
I posted on the general forum to see whether members thought we were too old for the scene and the responses were delightfully positive. I'm now looking forward to sourcing some suitable attire so that we can attend an event in the near future.

Hi Guys!
Would be lovely to see you at La Cheetah next week if you can make it. It's a night of cabaret and burlesque, and the crowd are a real mix of ages and interests, but we've built up a good following of regulars!
If you do come along please say hello
Dolly x

Hi there!
I have a show coming up at The Voodoo Rooms on March 24th...
I'll put up a full post. Its Captain Anchor presents 'Cabaret Sinatra'
My good self doing some cabaret torch songs and Burlesque from Hettie
Heartache and Tom DeLish. So something for everyone there really!
Its in the speakeasy and has a lovely cosy sitting room feel to it. :-)
Similar to Dolly's La Cheetah smaller Burlesque events are often great fun
and very welcoming you'll find! Watch out for my event post.
