    Default Hello, I've snuck in

I'm not part of the Scottish scene but hope to be. I'm trying to move to Edinburgh now I've finished uni and want to pack a bag and move on, have friends up there and got seduced by the place in a week (if I could just find somewhere to hang my trapeze there...)

I was wondering what regular burlesque nights there are in Edinburgh and opportunities for new performers to get stage time.

Really want to start performing if I move there otherwise I will be in the Forest drawing pictures every evening and overdosing on falafel.

Looks like it will be October now because I have to give a months notice to leave my current house. I need to go up in September at some point though to actually find somewhere to rent.

    Hey Scarlet,

We provide an open stage spot for newcomers at Dr Sketchy Glasgow every couple of months or so that provides 20 minutes of stage time to try out an act and pose for our friendly artists. If you'd be interested we will be announcing when the next slots are available relatively soon on our website & MySpace, it's first come first serve so keep your eyes peeled.

Looking forward to seeing you around Scotland, the scene here is growing and has a lot of talent and opportunites.

I've come a-pleading for anyone who knows anyone with a large double room in Edinburgh I can move into. I have Gumtree ad sickness from looking at so many housing ads!

I have been offered a place in a 5 bed flat but the girl thats put the deposit down wants to find others to sign up then decide the rent depending on if we are 4 or 5 which sounds iffy to me even though she sounds really nice and has chatted lots. Don't know if its just me being paranoid.

Also if I move there I'm looking for trapeze classes or a space to rig a low dance trapeze.

    Thought it was worth asking

    Thanks Lovelies

    Hi Scarlet,

TePooka are an Edinburgh company that run excellent trapeze classes and if you are of a certain level I think they allow cheap practice time in their space (they have 4 trapeze' rigged there, 2 x single point, 2 x circus that can be adjusted to whatever height you are comfortable with). I think you may be able to use their space for free if you have completed a couple of classes with them if I remember correctly.

And an hour away in Glasgow if you fancy making the journey for whatever reason is the very, very excellent Spinal Chord for all your trapeze needs.

As for flat finding in Edinburgh, being a Glasgow girl I am unsure but have plenty of friends in Edinburgh, I will ask around and see what I can dig up for you.

Don't worry too much about the situation you are in at the moment, it's understandable to be cautious, particularly when dealing with people you have never met but there will be a few hundred quid of a difference in the rent depending on how many of you there are so that may be her reasoning.

All the best with it, hope to see you in sunny Scotland soon.

Hello thanks, I went to Tepookas opening night at the fringe and loved it. My friend has been making costumes for them. It felt more like a very insane dinner party then a show. I contacted them a while back about single point classes, just wondered if there was anywhere else that did lessons more regulary because I'm pretty lazy at excercising if not on a trapeze!
