La Roche Rumba, Sat 4th Oct, on the South Side
Hey gang
For those of you in Glasgow:
Found out yesterday that the south-sides own "premier metalelectrofunkcountryhiphopdiscopunkrock club" club night, La Roche Rumba (which is on the first Saturday of each month) is having a burlesque theme this weekend! By burlesque theme, they mean the dress-up/ ambience theme for the crowd rather than they are putting on a show .... but they got in touch to say they would LOVE a real live burlesque performer!
So if anyone reading this is interested in going along and maybe doing an act (I think they only need one person - like I said, it's not a full burlesque show) please get in touch either through me or their myspace.

The club is held in the Pollok Ex-ServiceMens Club, which is the little concrete bunker next to Crossmyloof station at the end of Minard/ Titwood Rd. It's one of those places with formica tables, leather bench seats and a picture of the queen on the wall.
And cheap, cheap booze....WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

Huh, what a funny wee place to have anything! I know the spot you mean, but can't picture the actual building (I only went to school around the corner from there for 5 years!).
Alas I'm working all day Saturday and Sunday so no rocking and rolling for me this weekend!

Well, as you know, I'm no Southsider. But on all my various jaunts to that neck of the woods (coming from the motorway up Titwood Rd as one does) I honestly always thought that wee building was some dodgy bunker....
It's actually quite wonderful inside. The kind of place that should have a tinsel backdrop (and when La Roche Rumba is on, it does!)
As some of the key Club Tromolo people are southsiders and regulars there, we had a couple of runthroughs there (it seemed somehow appropriate), and here's a picture of my Charlie, working hard as always.
Yeah, same here. Even if I'd had more than 2 days notice, it would still be a no-goer. Hey ho!
