Anyone headed to Kabarett from Glasgow?
Wondering if any of you lovely Glasgow folk are going to Kabarett on Friday, and if so - can I hitch a ride? Or, alternately, fancy meeting up and public-transitting over together? I'm going to be taking photos, but would still like to go with someone rather than on my own, if possible...

Hi Belle,
Kari Kature was supposed to be heading over, but evil lurgie and even more evil work have pulled the emergency brake on that plan.
As Lilly is performing, I'm planning a seat up the front (if I can get there early enough :worried: , and figure out how to bag 11 seats for all our friends
), so feel free to come badger us! :twothumbs:
I know it's not the same as having traveling companions, but if nothing else I need to buy you a drink to thank you for taking those photos of Lilly a couple of weekends ago.

It would be lovely if you could save me a seat with all of you, assuming of course that you get there early enough to do so.
I should be arriving around 7:00 to check the place - and the lighting! - out.
Perhaps we should exchange numbers to increase the chances of us actually meeting up...
Do you know if there's a theme or anything that I should be aware of as I plan my costume?

The doors are at 7:30, so I was planning to be there for 7:00 too (get a drink from the bar and start queing!)
.
As for theme, all I know is that it's billed as the "dark-side of Cabaret", so I think that black may well be the theme for my evening! :eyebrows:
And you should be able to figure out who I am, I'll have my hat on. :twothumbs: I always have my hat on at events, I think some people are starting to look at me funny..... :worried: In fact it's quite disturbing how many of the Scottish scene have photos of themselves with my hat on as their facebook avatars!

Right-oh... I've no idea what I'll be wearing, it'll depend on whether I've got time to go home between work and catching the train to Edinburgh!
I'll probably be wearing a hat of some description though, as I'm thinking of trying out my new wig... we'll see. I may look nothing like my photos.

Its a bit of a shame all the Scottish burly is happening in Edinburgh these days. It's so far away from where I am...I can't wait for more shows to come back to Glasgow ( or even, a show in Ayr perhaps? heh wishful thinking )

Hi Kitt,
There is HEAPS of stuff happening in Glasgow!
The Art Club Cabaret - a sophisticated, high-end show of classic cabaret and burlesque that will be running intermittently until the end of the year. Next show is Friday 6 March
Dr Sketchy Glasgow - the monthly burlesque life drawing class where cabaret meets arts school with lots of gin-soaked mischief. Burlesque stars confirmed right up until summer include Wild Card Kitty, Mia Meow, Anna Fur Laxis and Mysti Vine. Next session is Sunday 29 March.
Rockaburley - probably the best burlesque night club happening in Scotland at the moment. An excellent show of some of the best Burlesque talent in the UK, kicking tunes and of course a fabulous compere
Recently relocated to the funky surroundings of The Classic Grand. Next show is Saturday 14 March.
The Glasgow Cabaret Festival - launching for the first time this July this will feature some fantastic shows from London appearing in Scotland for the first time, amazing international performers, gorgeous festival bar and after parties and more exceptional cabaret and burlesque talent than you can shake a stick at! Sunday 5 - Sunday 12 July - watch this space for updates.
And we at RwP have even more tricks up our sleeves for 2009 so surely that's enough to sate you

Don't forget, you also have fairly regular nights on at the Panopticon Britannia Music Hall, as well as Spangled Cabaret.
Also, I'm pretty sure Blonde Ambition and the MoB are planning a High Tease in Glasgow at some point. :twothumbs:
In fact, as an Edinburgh resident, I now feel somewhat left out of the Scottish Burlesque loop!

We are certainly a lucky bunch here in the Central Belt & what a great 2009 it will be, so many wonderful shows just a walk or a wee train ride from home, I am a happy bunny.
Belle: We've a very relaxed dress code, but love a bit of decedance, I'm sure what ever your attire you'll fit right in with our motley crew, though black is always a winner!
See you all later.
