Default The Glasgow Cabaret Festival - 1st Announcement!

Ladies and Gentlemen, lend me your ears, it gives me great pleasure to release the first of what will be lots of exciting Glasgow Cabaret Festival updates! You might be pleased to hear that the MoB forum are the very first to receive the release of this information so spread the word!

Rufus and I have been working flat out since late last year lining up our ducks as it were to make the very first Glasgow Cabaret Festival as exciting and vibrant as possible for it's very first year.

We have confirmed some fabulous partners and venues and our programme is taking shape in the most wonderful way.

The website will be going live very soon thanks to the lovely Miss Carrie of itsmisscarrie.com - our webweaver extraordinaire - and we will be announcing details of how to win tickets to the invite only, VIP press launch party when the website goes up.

We are partnered with the painfully hip Mama San Bar, Restaurant & Lounge and the beautiful boutique hotel, Saint Judes on Bath Street, right in the heart of the city centre.

Mama San Bar is one of Glasgow's most stylish and exclusive night clubs. This unique space provides an exclusive and dynamic place to party with its backdrop of quirky Interiors finished by New York Design Gurus Omnivore.

Mama San serves up award winning contemporary Pan-Asian cuisine in seductive surroundings.

Whether your mood calls for an authentic Thai Curry, Japanese Sushi, Robata Grills or Tempura, Chinese Dim Sum or Wok Dishes there are any number of variations to seduce your palette.

Head mixologist, Scott Stevens, creates specialist Cocktails to soothe the soul and stimulate the mind accompanied by cool tunes spun till 3AM by some of the world's top DJs.

We are proud and delighted to announce that Mama San is the official Cabaret Festival Bar and the place to see and be seen with impromptu performances from Cabaret Stars and late night partying with the elite of the theatre industry.

Mama San will be offering special discounts on food and drink to performers and festival ticket holders alike so if you fancy a post-show cocktail then this is the place to go.

And to give you even more incentive to make the journey from foreign shores, Mama San's on site, award-winning, boutique hotel, Saint Judes, will be offering special rates on their beautiful designer rooms during the week of the festival, details of that to be announced shortly.

BUT...on with the good bits...the programme highlights confirmed thus far...

Sunday 5 July - Launch & VIP Press Party at Mama San Lounge

Monday 6 July - Spangled Cabaret at The Rio Cafe - Special Guest Line-up TBC - Free Event

Tuesday 7 July - The Picture of Dusty Limits at The Art Club presented by the inimitable Beatrix von Bourbon - Tickets on Sale Now!

Friday 10 July- Rockaburley featuring very special out of town guests TBA

Friday 10 July - Desmond O' Connor's And The Devil May Drag You Under at The Tron - Tickets on Sale Now!

Sunday 12 July - Dr Sketchy Glasgow's 2nd Birthday Session and Festival Closing Party at The Arches (Dr Sketchy ticket holders and additional VIP guest list only)

We are still in the process of confirming our Wednesday and Thursday programming as well as our BIG show on the Saturday night - we are tingling with excitement and can't wait to announce to you what they will be!

The Glasgow Cabaret Festival will also have a Fringe element to allow smaller shows and artists to get involved under the Festival umbrella, details for this and how to apply will be going live next week.

And the most important factor is that all of this will be raising funds and awareness for our principal festival partner - The Britannia Panopticon Trust. The Festival programme will also include the in-house music hall events taking place at the Panopticon that week and we will release what these will be very soon.

All of our partners are wonderful and we look forward to working with them on this Festival - LastMinute.com, Mama San, Saint Judes, Fraser Suites, The Tron, The Arches, The Art Store and The Glasgow Art Club.

To receive all the Glasgow Cabaret Festival up to the minute information then please feel free to sign up to our mailing list by contacting festival[at]rhymeswithpurple[dot]net.

I hope that's enough to whet your appetite for now, we've got some more biggies up our sleeve as the internationl performer quota has still be to filled.

    Watch this space!

Thanks guys! I'm frazzle central at the moment with everything that's going on (The Cabaret Festival is one of THREE major festivals I'm working on at the moment) but I'm immensely chuffed with the way it's panning out and SO excited about the line-up.

I have a terrible habit of forgetting to ask for help so your offers are very kind and appreciated.

Bea - thanks lovey, looking forward to the Tuesday show the most

    xxxx L

I can vouch for Scott - his cocktails are super. Suzuki and I have had the pleasure of being shown how to mix a few by him over the last couple of years.

And to concur with Cherry.....Defo looking killer there folks.

Fret not! The way things are being programmed means that Rockaburley will have a late start and will be after And The Devil May Drag You Under so people can go to both. We are discussing a cross-promotional ticket deal for the two. They are also pretty close to one another venue wise.

    Huzzah!

Well done to RuLu* - it's already looking like a very exciting line up!

Will there be a Festival Season ticket on sale? (As in, pay a big wodge of money up front and get in to everything?)

    xxx

*that's Rufus and Lucille. Could also (should also?) be LuRu, depending on who's sitting nearer you at the time.
