RwP to produce the Bongo Cabaret Club at the 2009 Edinburgh Fringe!
Well folks it's heading to that time of year again where copy deadlines are looming, funding targets and travel expenses are scaring the life out of artists across the globe and that tingling feeling of anticipation and excitement starts to creep in at the thought of that first pint of August in the Spiegel Garden!
Oh yes, you guessed it, the Edinburgh Fringe is galloping towards us at an alarming rate and I could not be more excited.
To that end we at RwP HQ have a rather exciting announcement...
After two years at the programming helm of one the worlds best cabaret events at the worlds biggest arts festival the inimitable and wonderful Wild Card Kitty is throwing in the gin-soaked towel and moving onto pastures new and to focus on what she does best - being a super talented performer!
As sad as we are to see her go, in the 2 years WCK has produced the Bongo Cabaret she has taken it from strength to strength; fabulous performances from major international artists, 5 star reviews, many friendships and morning after the night befores (of which Rufus and I had the pleasure of being a part of many a beer-hazy Fringe night!) we are very excited to announce that Rhymes with Purple Productions have stepped up to the plate and will be The Bongo Cabaret producers of 2009. We hope to fill the sparkly heels of Wild Card Kitty in the best way possible and continue all the good work!
As this is a transition period the previous Bongo Cabaret channels of communication are still open and will continue to be so for a while - they are now accessible by RwP however you can also send any enquiries, performance and otherwise, to festival@rhymeswithpurple.net which will eventually be the main point of contact.
For those of you who are familiar with the process you will know the drill but for anyone to whom Bongo Cabaret is new information (firstly, where have you been for the past 5 years, under a rock?) and secondly...
The Bongo Cabaret Club is one the Edinburgh Fringe' most popular late-night offerings; showcasing the best the Fringe has to offer in comedy, theatre, variety, music and burlesque it is the place to see the hottest acts of the Fringe and beyond. Not only see them, but schmooze them and drink and dance until the wee small hours.
We will be accepting performance submissions for the 3 week run of this infamous artistic night-spot from this point forward so if you fancy trodding the boards of a stage that has seen the likes of Amanda Palmer, Kitten on the Keys, Des O Connor, Dusty Limits, The Wau Wau Sisters, Missy Malone, Leyla Rose and pretty much the entire cast La Clique then get in touch!
It's going to be hectic, elating, drunken and downright manic but good lord will it be awesome!
Vive the worlds most well-loved and most notorious cabaret - we at RwP hope to do it proud!
AND as if that were not enough to get you hot under the collar and itching in your seats; Rhymes with Purple Productions are also proud to announce that we will be producing the very first, written by her own fair paw, one woman show of the outstanding punk-burlesque icon - Kitten on the Keys in "Does This Piano Make My Ass Look Big". That's right we are bringing this show to UK shores for the very first time after it previews to lucky audiences in San Fransisco this Spring.
This show will be running for the duration of the Edinburgh Fringe at..you guessed it, The Bongo Club.
We will be updating you on times and tickets very shortly.
I have to go relieve myself now because all of this is far too exciting for me....!
Ciao

Congrats to the RwP crew - I remember Wild Card Kitty telling Angel and I about the Bongo Club and how it featured the cream of the crop, looking at the list of past performers I can see exactly what she meant.
Onwards and upwards.
