    Default Events in Scotland?

    Hey everyone!!

I've been out the game for a while and am totally out of touch with who is who and what's actually happening on the Scotland scene. Does anyone know of upcoming gigs preferably in Glasgow? I've checked the listings section but it's only showing the Oran Mor fundraiser and the Art Club Cabaret.

Surely there must be more happening than this?!

NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!

Funnily enough I'm actually performing at the next Rockaburley and I knew about Sketchy but cant make it, but I knew there had to be a cheesecake or something going on!

Will add all these dates to my calendar and go when I can.

    Cheers doll!

    Hi hon

You probably know a lot of these already, but here are a few. There are all events that have happened in Scotland and a couple from the north of England, over the last few months; some have new dates coming up, not sure about some others. Some are burlesque nights, others just clubs which feature dancers. Gives you a rough idea anyway!

    Glasgow
    *Rockaburley
    *Cheesecake
    *Spangled Cabaret
    *Club Noir

Cool, thats exactly what i was looking for thanks allot. But a few Q's if anyone can help further.

Are those nights that are on club nights that happen every..? month 2 months? I know Dr sketchs and CN obviously but been living down south so long I wouldnt know where to begin. is there any rock Burlesqe nights in glasgow? i know Hell in high hells is, been lots and loved it. a friend of mine tells me CN is not so much burlesqe crowd now as it draws a big fetish following aswell, havent been in over 2 years so dont know if its changed from the Burlesqe 'themed' night it used to be. I know they do proper shows and stuff now witch is great and still draws massive crowds soo i'll deffo check it out next month but what are the other nights like? Ill probibly look into the Art club night too but do you still need to be a student to get in? :P

Is this the best place to check for dates for events? been looking on the events page but cant seem to see half of whats listed here or performers for the events etc.

    Hi Sparky

    Glad it was a help!
To answer a couple of your questions, in terms of rock burlesque in Glasgow, myself and Cat Aclysmic run Rockaburley! which is Glasgow's only rockabilly and burlesque night. We have a rockabilly dj set, followed by a rockabilly / rock n' roll inspired burlesque show.
Then, once Rockaburley is finished, Absolution clubnight begins in the Classic Grand, which is more punk, metal and rock. (Absolution is run by the Classic Grand and is nothing to do with Rockaburley, but I love rock and metal myself so the two events combined make a perfect night for me!)

Regarding Club Noir, I haven't been in a long time, so I have no idea what the performances are like now. I know they draw a huge crowd and have become somewhat more "mainstream" in that respect but otherwise I cannot comment.

The Art Club Cabaret is open to all (over 18) as are all of the events I've listed (I think). Many also have a student price too on tickets.

There isn't any Scottish Directory of burlesque events that I know of, but most are discussed on the forums here, so if something's coming up, chances are it will appear on here.

The events I listed vary in their frequency, I've tried to include a bit more info below.

    Glasgow

    *Rockaburley @ Classic Grand- Rockabilly burlesque, every 2-3 months, next show 16th May 2009. MySpace.com - Rockaburley! - 26 - Female - UK - www.myspace.com/rockaburley

    *Cheesecake @ Tiger Tiger - Various burlesque / variety, monthly, next show 17th April. MySpace.com - Cheesecake - 26 - Female - Glasgow, UK - www.myspace.com/glasgowcheesecake

*Spangled Cabaret @ Rio Cafe - various music / variety / burlesque, monthly.

    *Club Noir @ O2 Academy - every 2 - 3 months, large-scale burlesque event.

*Dr Sketchys @ The Arches, burlesque life-drawing, monthly. Next event 26th April.
    MySpace.com - Dr Sketchy Glasgow - 24 - Female - Glasgow, UK - www.myspace.com/sketchyglasgow

*The Art Club Cabaret @ Glasgow Art Club - cabaret and burlesque, every two months. Next show 8th May. (Run by the same people as Sketchy Glasgow - the fabulous Rhymes with Purple).

    Edinburgh

    *Kabarett @ Voodoo Rooms - burlesque, cabaret & variety, next show 22nd May. Itsy's Kabarett :: Alternative Variety (Itsy's Kabarett) | MySpace.com

*Fanteaseya - glamourous burlesque, not sure when the next one is. MySpace.com - Fanteaseya Burlesque Club - 25 - Female - UK - www.myspace.com/fanteaseya

*High Tease - not sure when the next Edinburgh one will be but as Gilda said earlier in the thread, they are having one in Glasgow on July 4th.

*Bongo Club Cabaret - now run by RWP, shall be running throughout the Fringe this year.

*Burlescapades - very high end burlesque & variety show run by Lily White. No future dates showing just now but you can find out more here: MySpace.com - Burlescapades! - 101 - Female - Edinburgh, UK - www.myspace.com/burlescapades

*Hobo @ Bongo Club - run by Gamma Ray, this has now been replaced by a new night, Confusion is Sex. Next show 17th April.

*Dr Sketchys @ Voodoo Rooms - monthly, unsure of the next date. http://www.myspace.com/drsketchyscotland

Ok, that's about it I think! Hope that's useful. Maybe catch you at a burley event soon?
