Scottish Ballet jumping on the bandwagon..
.....the good ol' American stylee bandwagon at that with the help of the Club Noir mailing list. It's in the papers today but since I'm just whizzing through on my lunch hour, I'll update the story later.

I saw the Scotland on Sunday article (kind of like the cheesy pun in the headline - is that wrong?):
Burlesque club tutu risqué? Not for sexed-up Scottish Ballet shows - Scotsman.com News
I'm fond of Ballet anyway, so would only use the offer as a means of saving a few pennies - though I couldn't possibly claim to be a Club Noir regular so maybe I'm not the sort they're looking for. I (and I'm sure most people here) have seen many a ballet themed burlesque performance so a synergy between the two art forms is nothing new to a burlesque audience - though a trad Ballet crowd may be a little more perturbed.
I'm interested to see how it all transpires.

deffinately a good way to reach out to a lot of people as I'd imagine the CN mailing list is rather large. I've never been a fan of ballet but then I suppose I've never given it a try before....hmm free cocktail could tempt me! But I'm not on the mailing list haha

Ashley Page, the creative director at Scottish Ballet, has a great love for period stuff, I've been to a number of his shows inspired by the 1940s and 30s, so this almost seems logical to me.

I'm going to see Carmen when it comes to Aberdeen anyway. It's a damn good idea - the last show of theirs I saw was the Sleeping Beauty and I think that pretty much everyone here would enjoy the showmanship of the whole thing even if they don't like ballet as a form of dance in itself.
I read the article too but as far as I could gather it's just the Scottish Ballet advertising to a new audience, not actually putting on a burlesque show. I'm a bit sleepy though so I may have read it wrong!
It doesn't seem new news as such... they're always experimenting with new ideas and themes. Besides, I can't imagine the Scottish Ballet doing anything badly...

I think related articles in a couple of the Red Tops suggested there was some kind of collaboration between Club Noir and Scottish Ballet beyond the discount offer to members of CN's mailing list - the SoS title is misleading, though due to their genius punnery I will forgive them (just this once)!
