Art Club Cabaret - An Amazing Show!
Friday night's Art Club Cabaret was a spectacular success!
The show opened with Rufus T. Fahrenheit singing "Willkommen" from Cabaret and setting the mood with some cheeky banter before introducing Bizarre Magazine's Queen of Burlesque, Daiquiri Dusk, who performed her beautiful Diamond Balloon Pop accompanied by Lucille Burn singing "Diamonds Are A Girls Best Friend".
Lucille then stayed on stage and was joined by our talented pianist, Gorman, who accompanied her on the grand piano as she sang a sultry version Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black" before he sang a unique cover of Kate Bush's "Running Up That Hill".
Rufus then introduced the triumphant return of Chopper Harley to the burlesque/cabaret stage where he was joined by Miss Dolly Tartan in performing an incredibly energetic and funny dance routine to South Pacific's "There is Nothin' Like a Dame".
Then, because there was no stopping him, The Not So Impressive Ben took to the stage with his guitar and invited Rufus to join him in a rendition of "If I Had $1,000,000" by the Barenaked Ladies. The audience sang along and one table even chucked a $1,000,000 note at Ben!
Before the interval, Lucille and Gorman performed an incredible cover of the classic "Cry Me a River" which perfectly segued into a smooth version of Justin Timberlake's song of the same title finishing up with Rufus taking to the stage for a three-part canon mixing the two songs.
Part two opened with Gorman performing another song before Miss Hell's Belle invited us into her boudoir with a stylish and classic strip that had the audience whooping and cheering.
Rufus then returned to sing Monty Python's "Galaxy Song" accompanied by Ben which featured Ben's attempts to display the wonders of the Universe through the medium of interpretive dance!
We then welcomed Chopper Harley back as he performed a hilarious and sexy reverse strip; who'd believe that a guy putting on a pair of mismatched woolly socks could be so hot?
At this point, Ben insisted on introducing his new "girlfriend"; a perfect real-life doll portrayed by Miss Dolly Tartan. But while he (and the audience) sang her Cliff Richard's "Living Doll", Miss Dolly got up to some mischief, made a pass at Rufus and gave everyone in the room an excellent display of tassel twirling. Ben was delighted and terrified in equal measure!
Rufus was then delighted to introduce the debut of The Duskettes newest fan-dance - a perfectly choreographed routine to the theme from Bond movie "From Russia With Love". It was like watching the opening credits of a Bond movie live on stage! The Duskettes continue to go from strength to strength and it's a delight to see three gorgeous girls in such a tightly crafted performance.
To wrap up the show, Lucille and Rufus sang "I Move On" from Chicago and brought each performer back on stage for a bow to a standing ovation from the enthusiastic audience.
Everyone then stayed to drink and dance to the fantastic music until the Art Club closed.
The next Art Club Cabaret is Tuesday 7th July and features Dusty Limits' one man show "The Picture of Dusty Limits"! Tickets on sale soon.WARNINGWarning: This is an Old Thread

The million dollar note was from a bit of viral advertising from some sort of church ( whichever religion it is that have taberknackles? ) and my friend who chucked the note up was concerned that you might think she was some religious nut, trying to "spread the word"!
So, I'm to express upon you, that she isn't.

Aww - I didn't know Ben performed! I think every event should be given a comprehensive blow-by-blow account like this. I really like it - it gives everyone a better idea of what went on if they couldn't make it. Normally you just get a vague line-up. Thank you.

I have to say that this was probably the best small burlesque night I've been to. It was intimate but glamourous and the acts were uniformly high quality and well presented. The Art Club Cabaret was the highlight of my weekend and I think y'all are on to a very good thing with it.

I'm so confused! I thought the Not So Impressive Ben was Impressive Johnson's brother's pseudonym. No?

I heard they were both illegitimate long lost (and genetically distant) sons of Ben Johnson who was both Impressive and not So in his own way....
