Thread: Well, I'm home!

Well, I'm home!
Even though I've been in love with the ole burleyQ for a long time...
(imagine me aged 5 watching Gypsy with my mums power 80's gold lame dress... pretending to take it off... slowly, of course!)
... I've only just joined this forum. Why, you ask? Well, I'm not a performer, and I'm constantly skint, so the nights I was missing, I figured I shouldn't know about. I go to Cheesecake (only missed one!), Rockaburley and was a semi regular at Noir before I got somewhat hacked off with the hundreds of neds in their underwear (call me a snob!), but I'm realising just how much more I'm missing out on.
So, a vow. Beg, steal, borrow. Offer to help out backstage (I can move furniture in heels!) or start working as barstaff at each venue - but get to these gigs!
Glasgow burlesque is becoming so exciting, and I want to be a part of it.

Hello Miz! Love your avatar by the way! Gorgeous

Well, what can I say but welcome home, pull yourself up a comfy armchair, grab yourself a cup or tea and a fondant fancy and luxuriate in the masses of knowledge, stupidity, inspiration, rants etc that's here on the MoB forums (someone will now shout at me 'that's fora!')
You'll soon feel totally at home, and get to know some lovely people who can help point you in the direction......I started out as helping out at shows, maiding and then stage managing and I've learnt an incredible amount from some wonderful performers and lovely people. I'm about to start performing myself now but am not prepared to give up the maiding side because I love it so much.
I hope you feel very welcome here and I'm sure you'll make loads of friends! xxThe Russian Doll Lass - like Shrek's onion, but with sequins...

Welcome MizNico!
Happy to meet someone else game for moving furniture in heels!!
There are so many fantastic events in Glasgow, I'm sure to see you out and about in the city soon! And if you're game for a little trip out East, we have a some fab shows here in Edinburgh too (including my night Kabarett which features lots of very exciting burlesque performers & happens this Friday at the Voodoo Rooms, a shameless plug I know :eyebrows

Shamless Dee, truly shameless!
(Thing is though, she's right! Kabarett is a fantastic night out! Well worth the trip over to the dry side of the country! Entrance is cheap at half the price!
)
Anyway, welcome to the MoB MizNico!
I'm sure my other half Lilly and myself will be bumping into you at some point!Iolair Images - Come along and have a look..... You know you want to!

Thanks for the warm welcome, you're all sweethearts!
And Dee, I'm aware of your night, and I lovelovelove the Voodoo Rooms (who doesn't?) but this Friday I'll be performing the very glamourous task of looking after someone else's three year old while they get a well deserved night away.
I'm sure I'll make it over to the 'burgh at some point though, and, hopeful job-getting, it will be soon!
I have to say Tempest, (as well as thank you!) that maiding does sound like fun! Hard work, no doubt, but fun! Anybody wanna give me more info with that? I'm not a performer, but it's a step inside!
