Default Are you a Glasgow-based performer

    Hi all,

As part of a wee thing I have arranged to tie in with the Glasgow Cabaret Festival; I'd like to know how many active cabaret/burlesque/circus/variety performers there are in Glasgow.

I've added a poll to the post - you can tick as many answers as apply.

I don't want this to turn into a thread about who's a professional or who's a legitamate performer so I'd like to lay down some ground rules...

    • You have to actually be performing (really wanting to doesn't count)
    • You don't have to be earing from your performance but you do need to be reletavely established (at least half a dozen gigs under your *garter* belt)
    • You need to live within Glasgow City limits (this includes outlying towns: Paisley, Bishopbriggs, etc) - Please don't get into an argument on what constitutes Glasgow, if you consider yourself in Glasgow; that'll do!
    • You can be from any discipline that would be welcome on a cabaret/burlesque/variety stage. Singers should be specifically in the cabaret or variety style.
    • I'm after performers - not promoters or stage crew (unless you also perform in that capacity)
    • I'd like responses from everyone regardless of any loyalties or affiliations - this could be a great opportunity for everyone!
This isn't anything to do with gigs or work but it might lead to a fun opportunity, some press and a few beers! So please let me know if you'd be available on a Sunday in late June!

I'll post actual details soon but for now I'd just like to know who's out there.

    Default opportunity for self promotion

Seeing as how no-one responded to my last thread...

The point was to get an idea of who, in Glasgow, might like to attend a Press Call i've set up to promote how Glasgow is a cabaret/variety/circus and burlesque hotspot as well as lead into the very first Glasgow Cabaret Festival.

The plan is to get everyone who fits the criteria from the other post in one place for a photoshoot on Sunday 28th June. The venue has been confirmed and the press already approached; I just need performers with a hunger for variety and self promotion!

If you're keen, either email director@rhymeswithpurple.net or post here.

You don't need to be invoilved in the Cabaret Festival or have ever worked with Rhymes with Purple. This is an open opportunity for every performer based and performing in Glasgow and an excellent chance to all get together for a chat and a drink!
