Default DESMORPHIA - Edinburgh Fringe Festival!

Escape to a world of biting wit and dazzling glamour with Desmorphia, an extravaganza of twisted character comedy and music courtesy of one of the burlesque circuit’s brightest stars. The notorious Des O'Connor stars in this his most daring show to date and features the unparalleled talents of Mr. Jim Devereaux and Sarah-Louise Young. Astonishing costume changes and hilarious songs combine to deliver one of the most sensual and thought-provoking nights out.

Produced by Blond Ambition Events and the notorious Ministry of Burlesque, Desmorphia uses sketches, stand up comedy and song to explore the themes of identity, insecurity and hunger for fame, that serve as a driving force for many performers and entertainers. Desmorphia combines sharp, savage comedy with beautiful, heart-rending moments guaranteed to stimulate, entertain and provoke. It is a visual feast, exploiting O'Connor's penchant for New Romantic excess, burlesque glamour and epicene style.

“Dark, hilarious and really rather strange.” - Simone Baird, Time Out (Critics' Choice)

"A high degree of musical wit and lyricism…a thrill to watch."(Lyn Gardner, The Guardian)

    "Hilarious...amazing stage presence."(Ben Elton)

"Serious and funny, clever and fresh…thoroughly entertaining." (Kevin Lygo, Channel 4)

"A dazzling performance throughout, offering energy and humour which captures the hearts (and perhaps souls) of an enthralled audience." (Adam Harwood, Broadway Baby)

"Tom Lehrer with a twist of filth…witty and naughty." (Peter Quinn, The Other Side)

"The best cabaret host on the circuit at the moment" (Eric Page, Gscene Magazine)

"Finest lyricist of the burlesque scene" (Bizarre Magazine - Top 10 British Burlesque Stars)

Without giving the game away, I'll be doing a little more than dancing in the final act of Desmorphia! ;-)

21st Century Kilts have kindly provided the bottom half of my costume, and Kittie and Julie Ann have instructed me on the finer, erm, 'points' of Scottish culture.

If you haven't managed to secure a front row seat, opera glasses will be available. :-D

    See you all soon.

Whilst I am free, alas young Ms de Lure has a scheduled rehersal tonight for Sunday's Itsy's Kleine Komedie, so she cannot come! Thus it looks like we will have to catch the fun on another night, due mainly to Lilly killing me if I go to watch the show on my own! :disbelief:

Mr O'Connor, break a leg, and all such other showbiz cliches denoting good luck!

What a brilliant show! I attended the opening night last night and it already looked completely polished and professional, everyone involved should be really proud of themselves. I've seen Des quite a lot but there was so much new, fresh material here and even the stuff I had already seen was performed with so much energy that I loved every minute. Des was on absolutely top form and well supported by Jim Deveraux and Sarah-Louise Young. Fantastic night, once again well done to all those involved and good luck on the rest of the run, I am sure word will spread quickly!
