Betty Rowland, The Ball of Fire needs our help!
Hello fellow burlesque aficionado's and lovers....
I ask you all to help me spread the word about this online fundraiser we are doing to take care of Betty "the Ball of Fire" Rowland.
Monies raised go directly into a secure trust in her name to cover her medical and housing bills.
Betty is now 93 and has suffered a major heart attack, and whilst in hospital recovering, fell victim to some rather unscrupulous "family friends" who helped themselves to her furniture, burlesque memorabilia and let her insurance lapse.
We are in the process of helping her straighten out this mess, but needless to say, it's a dire situation.
It would be incredible if you all could post this information wherever you can, wherever burlesque is appreciated and admired.
Betty is one of the last surviving originators of this art form in America and needs our help and respect to retire gracefully...
Any amount will help, $1-$10 and up; whatever people feel comfortable giving. NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL!
It is all anonymous and the donations are tracked and recorded, all her bills have been set up to be paid directly from this account.
People can donate via a facebook page which is named BETTY ROWLAND TRUST, or they can follow this link:
https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/websc...if%3aNonHosted
OR they can go to paypal.com and just have money sent to bettyrowlandtrust@gmail.com.
They don't even need a paypal account. You can send money to anyone with an email address.
I thank you all sincerely in advance for your help and your time....

Liz, i love your book Pretty Things and the documentary.
My heart goes out to Betty Rowland. But i feel like i need more information to prove the validity of what you are saying. You may not be Liz Goldwyn.
Thank you
Miss La Muse

I can vouch for this. This is a genuine cause, from Liz herself x

Oh - I have also been asked, by Liz, to give you a new/corrected donation link:

Although the original here doesn't appear to be broken.. Oh well, I think it is in other posts/places x

OMG...feel so bad for her! When Mara had her stroke we found out the help was taking things and then we saw it on ebay a few years later!
I just saw a video of Betty online. They were both from the same era. This is really SAD!
