Thread: Summer Performances??

Hey there!

I'll be in the US over Summer and was just wondering if any one could give me any advice on how to find about any gigs taking place. This will be my third summer there and so I know that the drinking age in certain states is over 21 but wondered if there were any restrictions on performing Burlesque?

I am able to provide a resume and references (two from well respected photographers in the USA) as well as videos and photos.

Burlesque is very popular in the States. Each state has different regulations and in some cases it varies by city. Where I am for example, if you are performing on a stage with 100 ft. of alchohol sales, you can not show butt cheeks and the bottom part of the breast must be covered. However, if there is no alcohol, it will be determined by the venue. If the venue is zoned as "adult" then there is a $300+ exotic dancer fee. But that is just within Metro Nashville. The rules are different outside Metro.

The best thing for you to do is contact people from the local scenes as you travel and let them help you navigate it.
